Through the collaborative efforts of Norman & Sylvia Clanton and Auctioneer Joe Gaidis, the 1835 Oxford County Map sold at the July 31, 2010 auction, was purchased from the buyer and made available to the Bethel Historical Society. Here Joe Gaidis presents Stan Howe with the map, hand made in 1835 by local Bethel resident Lydia Carter. This wonderful piece of local folk art will be added to the permanent collection of the historical society museum and will be available for viewing by present and future generations of Oxford County Maine residents.
